How to choose the perfect exfoliant for your skin type.
How to choose the perfect exfoliant for your skin type.

If you are wanting to get the most out of your skin care then a good exfoliator should be an essential.

Exfoliation will help break down dead skin cells, allowing for cell renewal and greater absorption of other products in your regime.

While weekly exfoliation is a must, there is such a thing as over-exfoliating. If you are using your exfoliating products too often it can damage the skin's barrier, leading to sensitivity and irritation.

When deciding which exfoliator to go with there are generally two things to consider. Your skin type and whether you like to scrub or gently lift dead skin cells.

Here is a quick explanation -

If you suffer from more sensitive skin you may want to consider using a chemical exfoliant. Chemical exfoliants utilize AHA enzymes to gently break down dead skin cells without the physical motion of scrubbing the skin.

If you prefer the physical motion of scrubbing the skin you may want to opt for exfoliants that have physical beads. If you like to scrub your skin just be mindful of the type of physical exfoliant in your skin care. Some physical exfoliants can be abrasive, using micro plastics or walnut shells to scrub the skin.

Soo...Which to choose ?

Utalising the best of both, we decided to incorporate physical and chemical exfoliants in our Fruit Enzyme Refiner.

For those with sensitive skin, we have included AHA fruit enzymes to gently lift dead skin. We recommend applying the Fruit Enzyme Refiner to freshly cleansed skin, leaving the product on for 1-2 minutes. This will allow the AHA enzymes to work their magic, gently dissolving dead skin.

For those who love to scrub their skin we have included Diatomaceous Earth as a natural physical exfoliant. Diatomaceous Earth is a mineral rich fossilized algae which contains Silica. Silica will help to strengthen the skin's collagen production while buffing away dead skin cells.

We recommend using The Fruit Enzyme Refiner 2-3 times weekly or as your skin needs.
