Dermal Therapist Yadira's favourite MAAEMO products.

As a dermal therapist one of the most common issues that I see pop up in clinic is that people are just generally confused by their skincare. There is so much information out there, so many different products and people’s skincare routines tend to be filled with either too many steps, or too many of the same ingredients – unknowingly.

So, for a moment, (and before I get to the part about some of my favourite Maaemo skincare products) I just want to break down the products you do need in an everyday basic skincare routine.

AM:

A cleanser, moisturiser and SPF.

PM:

A cleanser and moisturiser.

Also, a weekly exfoliant – which will vary depending on your skin type/concerns.

Then of course you can build from that (and add in serums etc… to treat your main concerns), although we should always start with the basics – so as not confuse ourselves! Now onto some really great products.

Maaemo Rejuvenating Clay Cleanser

What it is: this is a 2 in 1 very gentle clay cleanser that can works really well to cleanse and brighten the skin of most skin types and can also be used as a quick 10 minute brightening mask if you wanted to leave it on the skin.

What it does:

It cleanses the skin without stripping it, gently brightens and resurfaces (thanks to the lactic acid) and your skin feels incredibly fresh and clear post use – sans destroying your barrier. I also think it would work well for a more of a mature/drier skin type that can’t or doesn’t exfoliate regularly. Gentle exfoliants via cleansers are a great way to incorporate them into a routine when your skin can’t/won’t tolerate stronger versions. It's also formulated with vitamin E and hazelnut oil, which is incredibly nourishing on the skin.

Maaemo Fruit Enzyme Refiner

What it is: this Organic Fruit Enzyme Refiner combines both physical and chemical exfoliation to gently resurface the skin.

What it does: Exfoliation is obviously a very important component of skincare and it is something that either people tend to overdo – or not do enough. I’d use this in your routine 2-3 times a week for an instant glow. It’s a formula that contains enzyme exfoliants which are the gentlest and suited for every skin type – but it also contains small physical particles to buff away at dead skin too. I personally, love a physical exfoliant (when formulated correctly) and this one won’t damage your skin barrier and delivers that satisfying clean that many of our skin’s crave/need. Naturally, I wouldn’t recommend a product like this be used every day.
